From a young age, Travis VanHoose found himself enthralled by the power of literary escapism, devouring the young adult horror fiction of authors such as Christopher Pike and R.L. Stine. During his teen years, he became obsessed with the dark worlds and tales crafted by master storyteller Stephen King and surreal filmmaker David Lynch.  He discovered that books and films could transport him to exciting places, freeing him from the realities of life.

VanHoose was always drawn to the dark, macabre, and the paranormal, which led him to dabble in short-form writing after being inspired by his sixth-grade teacher, Mr. Curtis, who told him he had what it took to become “one hell of a writer.”

For years, VanHoose struggled to find direction in life.  He pursued a variety of careers, serving as a naturalist, summer camp director, video store manager, psychic hotline operator, debt collector, and even as a youth minister for several years.

However, knowing his true passion was writing, VanHoose was never satisfied with such careers.  He fought his muse until his forties when he finally put pen to hand and began working on his first novel, SEEING RED, which he published in paperback in September 2023.

These days, VanHoose finds solace and pure happiness in creating his twisted worlds and unique characters—releasing the dark tales that have haunted him throughout his life.  By unraveling mysteries in his writing, he has discovered parts of himself he never knew existed.

VanHoose has several novels and serials in the works that he will rapidly begin releasing in early 2024—and hopefully for years to come.
